But to maintain that daytime brightness at night is questionable. Why then do they not include a mechanism to adjust the intensity AUTOMATICALLY? In general, police lights are bright enough in the daytime. I remember thinking: these lighting systems must be expensive.
It has happened to me before, at night, that I come across a scene of police activity (accident or other), with multiple police vehicles and many strobe lights on (LED or other): this can be visually disorienting, to the point that it caused me to actually LOOK AWAY from the many lights (and hope I didn't hit any person or vehicle). I used to drive like a loon, after a couple cites I've removed the lead block from my foot and actually use my signals oh and yes, stop does actually mean stop not creep up then go if its clear lol. You guys are spread pretty thin but doing some proactive enforcement might keep more of you out of the hospital / cemetary because the only way most people learn is to get a darn ticket. I think that departments need to (if they have time and resources) start enforcing the slow down move over laws. I've seen some older strobe light bars put on new cruisers and you can barely tell they are flashing during the day so the rotator or LED's are more visible during the day. But during the day they are more visible than any other light I've seen, especially during dawn/dusk driving into the sun. Should they be dimmed at night, yeah because they are very bright. Because I actually have some common sense which yes I know is not so common any more I know to slow down and move over. You can see a stopped emergency vehicle from miles out with LED's.
Make visuals great again police lights too bright windows#
The unmarked / slick tops I've seen have great setups in my opion, rear window, side windows and front windshield with wig/wags, stobes in tail lights is good but why add a light bar to the mix? A lot of the departments I've seen are starting to put them on the push bumper facing sideways, finally a light that you can see when just the nose is sticking out from around another vehicle etc. Honestly I think LED's are a great idea, do I think the necessity to put them on the roof, rear deck, mirrors, and grill is a bit excessive? Yeah.
